Operating the STI
Prime the Shock

The shocks must be tested as soon as possible after the vehicle is parked.  Testing shocks that have been resting for too long will give inaccurate results. If a vehicle has been parked for a time, prime the shocks before testing by pressing downwards on the vehicle in the area of the shock a few times.  The user will notice that the shocks become stiffer after this is done.  Please ensure that the handbrake has been released and the vehicle is in gear.

Position the Unit

Ensure that the cable between the STI unit and the sensor is properly connected before oplacing the sensor on the vehice. The sensor is attached to the vehicle by means of a suction device. When attaching this suction device, ensure there is no dirt on the car surface and be careful not to scratch or dent the car.  For accuracy, make sure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and that the sensor is absolutely upright in all directions. Ensure that the sensor is properly attached on the fender of the vehicle to prevent movement during the test.
Category Selection

Categories for the front and rear suspension systems must be entered according to the categories catalogue provided with the system. The categories for front and rear MUST be entered before testing can commence. Note that categories for the front and rear may not always be the same.
Shock Selection

The four wheels of the vehicle are represented by four keys on the keypad.  Select which shock absorber needs to be tested.
Testing

After the vehicle has been primed and the sensor attached, testing can begin. The user must take 3 samples per wheel. This is done by simply pushing the vehicle downwards and then releasing it. Push down firmly in one flowing movement and then release. Leaning on the vehicle, or pushing too hard or too soft will result in inaccurate readings. When all tests are complete, the results are displayed.

Result

Once you have completed the testing, results can be presented to the customer in two ways, namely a result card or a print out. The result card is quick and easy to use, while the print out gives a more detailed graphic analyses of each test sample.
